What is a SAP?

A SAP, or Substance Abuse Professional, is a person who is certified to evaluate employees who have violated drug and alcohol policies in the workplace. The role of a SAP is to assess the individual's situation, recommend a course of treatment or education, and determine if the employee is fit to return to work. The SAP's primary responsibility is to ensure public safety and assist the employee in recovering from substance abuse while adhering to workplace policies. SAPs play a key role in the return-to-duty process following substance-related violations.

As an SAP, I am not an advocate for your employer or you. My role is to protect public safety by professionally evaluating you and recommending the appropriate education, treatment, follow-up tests, and aftercare.

Cost?

Half the total SAP fee is due at the time of the initial evaluation. The remaining is due at the final evaluation. Contact me to discuss my rate.

FAQ

Does the SAP fee cover the cost of the treatment recommendations?

No, it does not. However, I strive to ensure that the recommendations I provide are as affordable as possible for you. That said, there may be times when adjustments are necessary, and you will need to find a way to manage it.

How much are the classes?

The cost of classes varies based on the number of hours I assign to you, with each course costing no more than $100.

How long does it take to get through the program?

The timeline depends on your individual needs—everyone's journey is different.

For some, it may take a week; for others, it could be three months or longer.

After your initial evaluation, we’ll have a clearer understanding of what to expect and how to move forward.

What happens if I don’t complete the SAP program?

You will not be eligible to perform safety-sensitive functions for any DOT-regulated employer until the SAP process is fully completed and documented.

Can I choose my own SAP provider?

Yes, as long as the SAP is DOT-qualified.

Will this be reported to my employer or the DOT?

Yes. SAP providers are required to report your progress to your current or prospective employer and to the DOT Clearinghouse (if applicable).

Will I automatically get my job back after completing the SAP program?

Not necessarily. The SAP process makes you eligible to return to safety-sensitive duties, but it’s up to your employer whether to rehire or place you back in your position.

Why am I required to complete a SAP program?

If you tested positive on a DOT drug or alcohol test, refused testing, or violated related policies, federal regulations require you to complete the SAP process before returning to safety-sensitive duties.

I am located in front of Wal-Mart in the same strip as Century Bank. Look for the American flag.
